A LETTER TO THE TEACHERS

Traditional methods of learning a foreign language die hard. In many classroom courses the emphasis is wholly on the written language. The students is trained to use his eyes and hands instead of his ears and his inability to achieve anything like correct pronunciation, stress and intonation must be attributed largely to the tyranny of the printed word.

A student’s mastery of a language is ultimately measured by how well he can use it, not by how much he knows about it. Learning a language is not a matter of acquiring a set of rules and building up a large vocabulary. The teacher’s efforts should not be directed at informing his students about a language, but at enabling them to use it. If the student is to make the most of his abilities, he must be trained to adopt correct learning habits. The students feel more motivated to learn English in real situations, and they learn nature language patterns rather than artificial classroom dialogues.

The treasure within: learning to know; learning to do; learning to live together; learning to be. And reinforce education of humanities arts social sciences. Education must be internationalized.

Nothing should be spoken before it has been heard.

        Nothing should be read before it has been spoken.

        Nothing should be written before it has been read.

Speaking is the most important of those skills.

Grammar must be learned through language, and not language through grammar.

 

The program stresses meaningful learning situations. The program engages the student in situations where they need English to cope with authentic English-speaking contexts: to make a request, to express a feeling, to accomplish something, to find out essential information or to complete a task. The students feel more motivated to learn English in real situations, and they learn nature language patterns rather than artificial classroom dialogues.

The program stresses thinking as an essential part of communication. To communicate, a person must have something to tell.

The Power English program works best if teachers encourage the students to talk as much as possible.

The program stresses language immersion. Each lesson exposes the students to lot of English, more than it expects the students to master or understand completely.

We teach the student other essentials: body language and facial expression; role playing; English manners and etiquette; the evolution of the English language; varieties and dialects found in English and a full background in media study.

The task of helping a group of students wishing to improve their confidence and ability to express themselves in English as foreign or second language can be a daunting challenge. Among others, two major issues confront the teacher.

The first in regard to the time available for conducting oral English classes, and the second concerning the availability of appropriate resource material which is stimulating, relevant to the situation in life of the students, and which can be coped with despite their limited vocabulary and previous speaking experience.

The development of confidence and competence in oral communication should be the goal for both the students and the teachers.

The program stresses risk taking in a supportive environment. No one can learn a language without making mistakes. If the students fear failure, they will not try new words and phrases and they will not progress. The students need lots of support and assistance to experiment with new language structures. They need praise for the content of what they say rather than constant correction of pronunciation and vocabulary.  

Therefore, good language teachers give their students lots of praise and encouragement. They help the students use new words and phrases by providing many models, demonstrations and dues. Good teachers frequently encourage the students to invent their own questions responses and conversations, and they congratulate the students for taking risks. Develop skills of intercommunication in English. 

Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn Language. It’s the best method to learn language when used for meaningful communication.

 

Change is inevitable! What you say is what you get!

 

How to master power talking the language of success? How can we be qualified to meet this great challenge?

 

The emphasis of change however may not lie in the structure or physical constitution of a campus. Rather, it needs to be ‘gravitated towards the education, management, learning, and interaction models.

 

In short, a new system is needed that matches the philosophy and progression of the “information age.” I have set my sights on it. I have devoted myself to create the system of Power English Teaching from 1998. And we’ll be building it into the first class school!

 

There's a great spirit rising from the desert to the sea. As it sweeps across the southern land. It comes to you and me. Where the dreamers are the dreaming, where the race of the edge yet to run.

Every child can be a hero if our world could live as one under the southern skies together in this land.

In the past, professors taught, students absorbed, and then they left.

Now the students are much more proactive, much more socially minded. When students go on exchange programs, they are always a little surprised that they are as well trained as ---- and sometimes better trained than ---- their peers overseas. That makes me proud.

 

However, all these teachers share a common commitment: to help students function well in English. Service is the fundamental survival.

I learn that learned earnest men earn much by learning. Knowledge begins with practice. 

 

For a considerable long time,we survive in the certain unit and which impressed deeply, containing all those specific and abstract memories like values judgment, what is right and what wrong argues, social relationships, carefully watch what we are doing and saying, advantages and disadvantages, rules of the games.

Whether or not English is the official language of the United States, it remains the "language of wider communication." Nearly everyone recognizes the need to develop proficiency in English in order to do well in America. To help those who want to brush up on their English skills, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes abound. Cities with large numbers of recent immigrants often set up bilingual education programs to teach students content subjects in their native language while they improve their English. Language educators often have strong and divergent views as to which approach helps learners achieve better results: a bilingual approach, an ESL approach-or even a pure immersion ("sink or swim") approach. However, all these teachers share a common commitment: to help students function well in English.

You lost something when you obtain, meanwhile when you lost something means you will get more. The zero-sum is always in shadow. Looking for a business partner is as similar as chasing for love, you definitely not only met one and who will finally hunting together, as well as not that necessarily to be stormy and electric effect.

All is not gold that glitters. Refine on the wording. Refine on the method of teaching.

The success is from habits and characters. “not simply for the learner to able to wirte to a foreign pen friend, to be able to calculate his income tax or understand his domestic fuse – box, though these are all practical by – products of the learning process. The major areas of the school curriculum are the instruments by which the individual grows into a more secure, more contributory, more total member of society.

Therefore, China is challenging examination-oriented education by advocating quality-oriented education. The alternative will focus on the stuent’s ability as a whole. The exam results will no longer play a key role in evaluating a student. Personally I firmly believe in the magic force of the new policy. It seems that I have seen in my mind’s eye the move colorful life, the looser environment, yet the more creative minds of the future students. Our education, so to speak, will bring up a new generation.

 

Renovate Language learning beliefs; correct the attitudes; foundation language learning strategies.

 

Diffuse Power! Dissemination of wisdom! Power comes from pressure. Pressure breeds motivation. Motivation comes after stress! Seek the worth and employ the talented to establish a brand in world market. We shall keep up with the pace of the progress.
